Bonaire: Magical Realism in the Caribbean
As pigeons are to New York City, donkeys are to Bonaire. We saw none in the trees or on window ledges – donkeys are frightened of heights. We saw them downtown on the sidewalk, many by the sides of the road, often in groups, and many in the road itself – traffic piling up – serene, detached.
