Beside the mighty Columbia River, overlooking gargantuan ships circled by tugboats like remoras, Coffee Girl sits within a chamber of what had once been an enormous cannery operation that only ceased when the unending supply of fish dwindled.
Thick beams, thick walls, thick history, outstanding coffee, outstanding lavender scones, it is among the best coffeeshops we’ve ever been to, as though the cannery was intentionally built to house it.
Customers here have all been vetted by central casting as prototypical Astorians and you can be chosen too. The only criterion for admittance is lack of pretension.

Their yogurt with granola was crowned by pristine, seasonal fruit. Their bagel and lox satisfied the soul of a New York City expat.
