3 Days in Oregon’s Applegate Valley

Once, in a Myanmar restaurant, we ordered fresh-squeezed pomelo juice. Slow to arrive, we queried a passing server, and with mild indignation, he replied, “Your waiter is climbing the tree right now to get your pomelos which he will squeeze for you.” We always thought this represented the apotheosis of the freshest food. But now, we’ve met its match in the Applegate Valley of Southern Oregon.
